No Reserve: Quattrovalvole-Powered 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi for sale on BaT Auctions - ending October 26 (Lot #58,146) | Bring a Trailer
This 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi is finished in red over tan leather upholstery and is powered by a replacement 2.9-liter Quattrovalvole V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a removable roof panel, a Euro-style front spoiler, an Alpine stereo, pop-up headlights, and power windows. The car has spent time in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey and was recently acquired by the selling dealer in 2021. This 308 GTSi shows 35k miles and is offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with manufacturers literature, partial service records, an air compressor, a jack, three sets of keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.
The car is finished in red and features a removable black roof panel and a rear spoiler affixed behind the rear window. Additional exterior details include a Euro-style front spoiler, pop-up headlights, quarter window louvers, and black side moldings and bumpers. The selling dealer states the car was repainted under previous ownership, and rust is visible on the passenger-side door scoop, the lower doors, and behind the wheels on the front and rear fenders.
Five-spoke 16 wheels were reportedly sourced from a 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole model and are wrapped in staggered-width Continental ExtremeContact tires that show 2010 date codes. The brake fluid is said to have been serviced in July 2021.
The cabin features seats from a later Ferrari 328 model upholstered in tan leather along with a matching center console and door panels. Amenities include an Alpine CD stereo with USB connectivity, power windows, and a chrome-plated gated shifter. The fuse panel was replaced with a unit from Birdmans 308 Parts in 2015, and the window motors were replaced in 2017. The selling dealer notes that the air conditioning compressor was not installed after the engine replacement, and the removed air conditioning compressor is included in the sale along with the removed seats.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation consisting of a 180-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. An analog clock and an auxiliary temperature gauge are mounted in the center console. The five-digit mechanical odometer indicates 35k miles.
The 2.9-liter V8 was reportedly sourced from a Euro-spec 1985 Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole model with approximately 34k kilometers, and it was installed in January 2011. The engine was factory rated at 237 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque in European-specification and features dual overhead camshafts on each cylinder bank, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and four valves per cylinder. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The clutch was replaced in January 2012, and the transaxle fluid is said to have been serviced in August 2021.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey dating back to February 1996.
