This 1986 Audi Coupe GT is a Commemorative Edition example that was purchased new by its original and only owner at Bozanni Porsche/Audi in West Covina, California and spent the next 30 years in the state before he moved to Arizona. Finished in Graphite metallic paint over a red leather interior, the car is equipped with a 2.3L inline-five driving the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and has been maintained personally by the previous owner. An included service log notes the installation of a new fuel pump, filter, and accumulator in 2017 along with an oil change.
Body panels are finished in Graphite metallic paint. Due to the nature of this being all original paint, there are some chips around the nose, and a touched spot on the wheel arch of the left rear quarter panel as can be seen in the photos. The removable sunroof elevates to the vent position at the rear and separates from the roof easily and has a storage shelf in the trunk.
The Coupe GT was equipped with Ronal 14″ turbine-style alloys, that currently wears 185/60 Michelin Energy MXV4 tires showing 2002 date codes. A body-colored rear spoiler was also featured, with this example in mint condition.
Seats and door inserts are finished in Michle Mouton Lipstick Red leather upholstery in a tribute to the Audi WRC team driver. Floor mats were a dealer item added at purchase. Both window regulators have been replaced and rebuilt by a specialty company in Arizona and are in perfect working order.
Digital gauges were specified for the Coupe GT for the USA market and are said to work properly there aside from an upshift light disabled via bulb removal. The air conditioning compressor was replaced at an Audi dealership around 25 years ago and was recently recharged with Duracool. A Sony cassette radio replaces the original Blaupunkt head unit. The digital odometer shows just under 141k miles, approximately 5000 of which have been added in the last 10 years.
The naturally-aspirated 2.3L 5-cylinder is mounted longitudinally and drives the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Maintenance performed by the previous owner reportedly included regular fluid changes and the installation of a new water pump, clutch, and slave cylinder. A later-style windshield washer fluid reservoir has replaced the original.
A service in 2017 consisted of a new fuel pump, accumulator, and main filter along with an oil change. Boge shocks were replaced within the last 5k miles, along with the suspension and subframe bushings. The muffler, resonator and tailpipe are replacement aftermarket parts, and a new catalytic converter was installed.
Owners books and original purchase documents are included in the sale along with a logbook showing significant maintenance performed by the previous owner.
Having owned and collected many Audis from this era, this coupe is in excellent condition with as close to perfect interior as you could find, and it drives as if it had just been driven of the showroom earlier this year. If you are an Audi fan, this is an excellent example to put in the garage.
